Tony Mowbray was among the crowd at Ewood Park as Albion ground out a point against rivals Blackburn Rovers.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, a fixture billed as a relegation six pointer produced little quality, with both sides ultimately settling for a draw.
Backed by 7,500 travelling supporters, Albion came closest when Aune Heggebo’s strike crashed against the crossbar, leaving the visitors to reflect on what might have been.
The occasion marked exactly one year since Mowbray was axed as Albion boss, their play-off hopes fading after defeats to Coventry and Derby. His short-lived second spell ended just days before the season finished.
Mowbray previously led Albion to the Premier League and enjoyed success at Blackburn as they returned to the Championship. He has also been seen at Middlesbrough matches, another of his former clubs as both player and manager.
He has yet to return to the dugout, with his last job in the Championship coming with Albion.
