Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have again been namechecked in the hunt for Evan Ndicka as Roma contemplate his departure to balance the books.

Spurs concluded a disappointing Premier League season, finishing 17th in the league table once again and avoiding relegation to the Championship by just two points.

Manager Roberto De Zerbi and Spurs will turn their attention to the upcoming summer transfer window to strengthen the squad and have been keeping tabs on Ndicka, though it has been suggested the Roma defender ‘isn’t convinced’ about the move.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United failed to replicate last season’s success under boss Eddie Howe, finishing 12th in the Premier League and missing out on European football.

The Magpies have also shown interest in Ndicka regarding a summer transfer, and now is not the first time they have set their sights on the Giallorossi star, as last term Newcastle were linked with him, but a deal never materialised.

Now Newcastle and Tottenham have been namechecked once again for Ndicka, who Roma could well sell to balance the books, according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport (via La Roma 24).

It has been suggested that the Giallorossi are seeking a transfer fee in the region of €40m, but they would open talks if a proposal of €32m to €35m was made.

Roma are keen to bring in cash before the 30th June financial rules accounting deadline, which increases the pressure to potentially sell Ndicka.

Ndicka arrived at Roma from German outfit Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2023 on a free transfer and put pen to paper on a five-year contract.

The Ivory Coast international made 31 appearances in Serie A this term, while also contributing to three goals, and helped Roma return to the Champions League after a seven-year absence.

Spurs have been working to bolster their defence, having already signed Marcos Senesi from Bournemouth, and Ben Davies has inked a new one-year contract, but De Zerbi is also ‘determined’ to bring in Brighton defender Jan Paul van Hecke.

Newcastle United have also been busy in sorting out their backline as well, handing a new deal to Fabian Schar, and the Magpies are monitoring the situation of Gremio defender Viery.

Ndicka still has two years remaining on his current contract, but with Roma looking to part ways with him to balance their books and also willing to negotiate their asking price, it seems a move in the summer is the most likely outcome.

Bournemouth have also been mooted as keen on Ndicka, offering another potential Premier League destination.
