Romero was substituted for the second game running after appearing to hurt himself when flying into a challenge on Morgan Rogers on the hour-mark.

Richarlison, a second-half substitute, pulled up 25 minutes after coming on after setting up Dominic Solanke to score Spurs' fourth goal.

The striker appeared to clutch the back of his leg during the celebrations before receiving treatment.

Both players were undergoing assessments at Hotspur Way this week, with Spurs travelling to Istanbul to face Galatasaray in the Europa League on Thursday and hosting Ipswich this weekend ahead of the two-week international break.

Micky van de Ven is already sidelined until later in November with a hamstring strain and if Romero joins him in the treatment room, Spurs will be down to two recognised centre-backs in Radu Dragusin and Ben Davies.

Head coach Ange Postecoglou has said teenager Archie Gray can fill in at centre-back if required.

Another injury for Richarlison would be hugely frustrating for the Brazilian and the club after Spurs took extra care with his rehabilitation after a groin strain which kept him out from August.

“We've taken our time with him but it hasn't been just about him recuperating and recovering from the injury," Postecoglou said on October 18. "We've tried to use it to build his fitness base up so when he comes back and to be fair to him, he's worked awfully hard.

"He has trimmed down, he looks really lean now and has worked really hard. We've tried to use it almost as a pre-season for him on an individual basis to not just get him to recover from his injury because he probably recovered from his injury a couple of weeks ago, but we've used the last couple of weeks to get his fitness base up and him into good physical condition so we don't have to keep going through this cycle of him coming back and breaking down.

"Like I said, to be fair to him he's worked really hard and he's looked really good. He's had a good week of training and he has missed playing. He is a real infectious guy as well so good to have him back with the group."
