Tottenham have confirmed the death of Igor Tudor’s father, Mario.

Tudor was informed of his father’s passing shortly after Sunday’s 3-0 home loss to Nottingham Forest, and subsequently missed his post-match media duties.

In his place, assistant coach Bruno Saltor stepped in.

”It's a personal family issue and obviously it's a difficult moment for him,” Saltor told reporters.

Confirmed the news on Monday, a statement from the club read: “Everyone at Tottenham Hotspur is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Igor Tudor's father, Mario. Our thoughts and condolences go out to Igor and his family during this incredibly difficult time.”

Earlier in the day, Juventus, whom Tudor has twice managed, issued their own statement, which read: “Juventus joins in the grief for the passing of his father.”

Tottenham are now on a three-week break before their next fixture, against Brighton on April 18.

Spurs face a serious fight against relegation, but Saltor insists himself and Tudor retain the backing of the board despite a fifth defeat in six Premier League games.

“We feel the support of everyone at the club and we're just focusing on how we can help the players,” Saltor added.

”What gives me belief [is] the last two games, against Liverpool and Atletico Madrid and the first half [against Forest]. We should've been at least 1-0 up.

”Right now, every small detail is going against us, it is about turning it around and that's what gives us confidence.”
