Tottenham have appointed Dan Lewindon as the club's new performance director.

He will be responsible for the medical, sports science, nutrition and psychology departments at the club across the men's, women's and academy teams.

Lewindon is currently serving his notice period at City Football Group, where has been director of player health and performance across the network of clubs since 2022.

"We are delighted that Dan will be joining us as performance director," Spurs' sporting director Johan Lange said.

“He was the standout candidate and brings a wealth of experience across a wide range of team and individual sports, working in high-performance environments with elite athletes.

“Dan also has a strong academic background and his expertise will be hugely beneficial to us as we drive this area of the club with innovative thinking. We look forward to Dan starting.”

Lewindon has worked in different sports at the elite level. He was lead physio at Northampton Saints rugby team before spending seven years as the senior physio for England.

His next role was with the Lawn Tennis Association as head of high-performance science and medicine.

There has been a particular focus on Spurs' injury record since Thomas Frank arrived at the club in the summer.

Changes have been made to try and avoid a repeat of last season's disastrous injury problems and Lange has been overseeing that.

He was promoted last week to sporting director, a role he will share with Fabio Paratici. However, it is Lange who has more responsibility for performance, which includes the medical and sports science departments.
