Tottenham Hotspur have signed Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi on a free transfer. The 29-year-old has agreed a four-year deal and will join on 1 July when his Bournemouth contract expires.
He said the club showed their intent from the start and that he is excited to be involved.
Spurs stayed up on the final day, beating Everton 1-0 to finish two points above West Ham United in 18th.
Senesi featured in all but one of Bournemouth’s league games as Andoni Iraola’s side reached the Europa League for the first time. Iraola confirmed in April he would leave at season’s end.
He joined in 2022 and made 128 appearances, with six goals and 10 assists. He played two friendlies for Argentina in 2025-26 and was on Lionel Scaloni’s World Cup long list.
A left-sided centre-back, he brings line-breaking passing to complement Micky van de Ven’s recovery pace and runs. Roberto De Zerbi could rotate them or pair them, and Senesi’s calm under pressure may suit a press-baiting approach.
His arrival would take Spurs to six senior centre-backs including Luka Vuskovic, who spent 2025-26 on loan at Hamburg in Germany. With recent injuries, cover for Van de Ven is logical, though they do not need six after missing out on Europe next season.
