Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a massive boost in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy this summer.

After escaping relegation by the skin of their teeth, Tottenham have set out to restructure their squad ahead of next season.

Tottenham have already announced the arrival of two defenders and have now set their sights on signing a proven goalscorer.

Guirassy was linked with Fenerbahce, but his agent has shut down those rumours in a massive boost to Spurs.

The striker is ‘evaluating his options’ ahead of next season, opening the door for Tottenham to swoop.

Speaking to reporter Patrick Berger, the Guinea international’s brother and agent, Karamba Guirassy, made it clear that no agreement has been reached with any club.

“To clarify: no agreement of any kind has been reached“, he said. “Serhou is currently evaluating his options for next season. Any claim of a verbal deal is simply not true.”

While that comes as a huge relief for Tottenham, they still have their work cut out with half the clubs in Europe lining up to sign Guirassy.

Aston Villa, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid are also monitoring the striker’s situation and are aware that he could be on the move this summer.

Guirassy was in fine form for Dortmund last season, bagging 22 goals and six assists in 46 games across all competitions.

He scored 17 times in 33 Bundesliga games, helping Der BVB secure Champions League football with a second-place finish.

His lethal goalscoring skills would come in handy at Tottenham, who are hoping to return to the upper echelons of Premier League football under Roberto De Zerbi next season.
