In a recent post on X, journalist Ben Jacobs claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are close to recruiting Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson. It has been mentioned that Spurs have an agreement in place to sign the Scottish defender this summer.

Robertson’s Solid Season In English Football

Robertson managed to serve as a good rotational piece in Arne Slot’s squad this season. He is past his prime, but deserves credit for putting in a few impressive displays on the left side of Liverpool’s backline.

The Scotland international has made 36 appearances for the Merseyside club in this campaign across all competitions. Robertson has got a wealth of experience in the Premier League. Plus, he has the winning mindset to be a success story at Tottenham. Thus, it is no wonder that Spurs are showing interest in signing him this off-season.

His current contract at Anfield will run out at the end of next month, which could open the door for Tottenham to land him on a free transfer this summer.

Will Robertson Be A Good Option For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Roberto De Zerbi?

Robertson is a solid tackler of the ball and can scan the danger well to secure possession back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when the opposition are on the front foot and is full of energy and running on the left flank.

The Scotland international is primarily a left-back but can also serve as a left-sided wide player if asked to do so by his manager. He has already proven himself in the Premier League and won’t take much time to settle into life at Tottenham if they manage to get him on board later this year.

Robertson would add more quality and experience to Roberto De Zerbi’s defence. He is still good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season.

At 32, Robertson might have a couple of good seasons left in him to play at a high level. Thus, he would be a good option for Spurs in the short term. Robertson will also help the North London giants compete for a European spot in the Premier League over the next few years.
