In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on KAA Gent full-back Archie Brown. It has been stated that Spurs would have to rival AC Milan in the race to land the English defender this summer.

Brown’s Impressive Rise In Belgian Football

Brown had an impressive campaign at the Belgian club as he put in a handful of eye-catching displays for them on the left side of their defence. The 23-year-old registered three goals and earned six assists in 46 matches for Gent last season in various competitions.

The Birmingham-born talent deserves some credit for averaging 37 tackles, 35 blocks and 28 interceptions in the Jupiler Pro League. However, he needs to improve his ball distribution after completing 72.5% of his attempted passes in the Belgian first division (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Belgian club will run out in the summer of 2027 which could make it tough for the North London outfit to sign him on the cheap this off-season.

What Will Brown Bring To Tottenham Hotspur?

Brown is a tough-tackling defender who can scan the danger well to earn possession back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive.

The English sensation can contribute by scoring and creating some important goals for his team from the left flank. He is primarily a left-back but can also fill in as a centre-back or as a left-sided wide player if told to do so. However, there are some concerns over whether the Birmingham-born talent can maintain his good form in the Premier League.

We can expect Brown to bring more quality and depth to Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank’s attacking department. He has what it takes to compete for regular first-team football at the North London club next season.

At 23, Brown has his peak years ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for Spurs to pursue in this summer transfer window. However, Frank needs to give him some time to adjust to life in the Premier League before he can unlock the best out of the gifted left-back at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
