In a recent report, Bild (subscription required) revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have begun talks to land FC Koln winger Said El Mala. It has been stated that Spurs would have to compete with Manchester City, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona in pursuit of the German wide player next year.
El Mala has enjoyed a decent campaign at the German club. He has done well to put in a handful of impressive displays for Koln in the final third. The German talent has played in 16 matches for his current employers this season, finding the back of the net on six occasions and earning three assists across multiple competitions.
The 19-year-old has been a reliable performer on the left side of Koln’s attack and deserves credit for averaging 3.82 shots per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He has kept 46.4% of his attempts on target. However, El Mala needs to find a way to improve his passing in the final third based on his pass success rate of 64.9% in the German top flight (stats via fbref.com).
His current deal at the German club will expire in the summer of 2030, which could make it tough for Spurs to sign him on a cut-price deal next year.

El Mala is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some promising runs with it out on the flanks. He has got the eye to play some decisive passes in the final third and can shoot the ball with power from long range.
The German talent has proven himself to be a consistent performer in German football. However, there are some concerns over whether he can adapt to the physical style and high intensity of the Premier League if Spurs manage to get a deal done for him next year.
El Mala would add more quality and depth to Tottenham boss Thomas Frank’s attack. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at the North London club in the coming seasons.
At 19, El Mala has the potential to be a future star in English football. Thus, he would be a good fit for Tottenham’s needs in the long run.
