Manchester City are poised to receive a blockbuster new offer from Tottenham for Brazil international forward Savinho, according to reports in Brazil.

The 21-year-old winger has been at the centre of intense speculation in recent weeks, with City repeatedly resisting approaches despite mounting pressure from Premier League rivals Tottenham – now managed by Thomas Frank.

Tottenham’s pursuit comes at a time when Manchester City’s hierarchy are seemingly split on the player’s immediate future, with one unnamed senior figure keen to retain the player as a long-term project after a promising debut campaign in English football.

This latest development also follows Tottenham’s struggles to land their attacking targets, having missed out on Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze. Arsenal are on the verge of sealing a deal for the England international, leaving Spurs under pressure to respond with a statement signing to back their new manager.

For City, the Savinho situation is beginning to echo the regret felt over Cole Palmer’s departure to Chelsea in 2023. While Palmer’s move brought a sizeable £42.5 million transfer fee, his rapid rise in West London has served as a warning against letting go of talent too soon.

Manchester City officials appear wary of repeating that mistake, particularly with Savinho, who is widely regarded as one of Brazil’s brightest attacking prospects.

However, according to new information from GE Globo’s Cahe Mota, and having seen an initial bid rejected by Manchester City, Tottenham are now preparing a new €80 million offer for the 21-year-old winger.

It is claimed that officials at the North London club have ‘vowed to spare no effort’ for Savinho after losing out in the race to sign Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze – who is bound for local rivals Arsenal in the coming days.

Now, with their focus on Manchester City’s forward, Spurs are promising to push with the player’s agents remaining in London as they mediate negotiations between the two clubs. However, it is stressed that a deal is not straightforward due to City’s ‘lack of receptiveness’.

Looking ahead, Tottenham are expected to maintain their pursuit until the final days of the transfer window, even if negotiations remain slow.

The club’s willingness to table an €80 million bid underlines their intent, but Manchester City’s refusal to open the door so far suggests they may be determined to keep Savinho in Pep Guardiola’s squad for the 2025/26 season.

Much may depend on Guardiola’s own assessment of the situation, with the Catalan coach keen to avoid being left short of attacking depth, and whether he is made aware of a possibility of recruiting Rodrygo Goes from Real Madrid as a replacement – a firm favourite of the 54-year-old.

Conversely, should Savinho express a strong desire to move for regular minutes, which he is yet to do despite being open to the idea, the club may face a difficult decision in balancing financial opportunity with long-term sporting ambition.
