Tottenham have been told they must pay at least £50million to sign Brentford forward Yoane Wissa.

Spurs are looking for attacking reinforcements and have identified Wissa as an option after seeing a £50m bid rejected by West Ham for Mohammed Kudus.

Tottenham enquired about Wissa, who scored 19 Premier League goals last season, earlier in the summer and were told by Brentford that a fee of at least £50m would be required.

There has been no contact between the clubs for the past two weeks as Spurs weigh up whether the DR Congo international, who turns 29 in September, is worth the fee.

Spurs, who appointed former Brentford head coach Thomas Frank last month, could potentially derail Manchester United's pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo should they decide to bid for Wissa.

United are weighing up a third bid for Mbeumo, with Brentford adamant that they want more than the £62.5m Ruben Amorim's side paid for Matheus Cunha earlier this summer.

However, Brentford are reluctant to lose both Wissa and Mbeumo this summer, United could end up missing out on their man if Spurs meet Brentford's valuation for Wissa.

A reunion with Frank would appeal to Wissa, particularly given that Spurs are in the Champions League next season.

Spurs, though, will know Wissa's contract is due to expire in June 2026.

Standard Sport reported earlier this summer that Brentford expected to field offers for both Wissa and Mbeumo this summer but hoped to hold on to both.

Nottingham Forest saw a bid of £22million for Wissa swiftly rejected in January. Spurs had held an interest in the DR Congo international, too, but opted instead to sign Mathys Tel on loan from Bayern Munich on deadline day.
