Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to send in another bid for Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali, according to the Daily Mail.

Spurs are keen on adding a new midfielder to their ranks, and after making headway in their bid to sign Mateus Fernandes, they will go back in for the Italian.

Manager Roberto De Zerbi is spearheading the pursuit of the 26-year-old box-to-box midfielder, who will likely be on the move.

Tonali, who is an ‘outstanding talent‘, caught the eye of the 2024/25 Europa League champions with his stellar displays in the middle of the park.

He is a clear upgrade on Rodrigo Bentancur, who endured another inconsistent campaign.

It is unclear whether Tottenham can afford to sign both players, even though Yves Bissouma will leave at the end of this month when his contract expires.

Lucas Bergvall has also informed that he wants to leave due to his lack of playing time under De Zerbi.

However, it is difficult to see them affording two hefty operations without significant sales.

Tottenham must be prudent with funds after revitalising their defence.

De Zerbi wants to add two wingers to his ranks, while signing another striker must be on the agenda.

Spurs are currently chasing Crysencio Summerville and have been in talks to sign Savinho for some time.

There have been no credible links to a striker.

But with Randal Kolo Muani leaving after his loan and Richarlison and Dominic Solanke underperforming, it is a position they must address.

This rebuild comes after Spurs finished 17th for two successive seasons, escaping relegation by the skin of their teeth last term.

They have already signed Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, Martin Dubravka and Jan Paul Van Hecke. Tonali
