Tottenham Hotspur are exploring a January move for Liverpool left-back Andrew Robertson. According to The Athletic, Spurs are working on a deal for the 31-year-old, now behind Milos Kerkez and out of contract this summer. They have already added Conor Gallagher and Souza.
Robertson’s minutes have dipped, yet recent data shows little defensive decline. He is still winning tackles and turnovers at similar rates and succeeding more often in one-on-ones.
His attacking return has eased since 2022/23, when he produced eight Premier League assists. He has three since, but 9.36 expected assists since summer 2023 points to variance more than drop-off.
At Spurs he would compete with Destiny Udogie and offer cover for injuries. Djed Spence could switch to the right to challenge Pedro Porro, with Thomas Frank preferring overlapping full-backs.
Left-back was not a clear priority after Souza arrived, so interest likely reflects Udogie concerns and a Spence rethink. The fee is unclear, and age and contract suggest value, though wages could make the package hefty.
For Liverpool, selling mid-season would be risky in a top four push with depth already strained. Kerkez is improving but has not fully reproduced last season’s attacking impact, and Kostas Tsimikas may return from his AS Roma loan only to move again.
Keeping Robertson to expiry looked tidy, even if he left for free. A sale would add modest funds and feels unusual for both clubs, though it could suit the player in search of minutes.
