Tottenham have launched a record rebuild under Roberto De Zerbi after scraping Premier League survival, with Jan Paul Van Hecke and Mateus Fernandes signed and a move for Sandro Tonali close, according to L'Équipe.
De Zerbi was appointed on 31 March after Igor Tudor’s brief tenure and quickly set out to transform the squad. Days later the Lewis family pledged fresh investment to restore bold, entertaining football over the coming months.
On 19 June Spurs announced Van Hecke, 26, from Brighton for £52m (€61m). They then bought Fernandes, 21, from relegated West Ham for £85m (€99m), a club record. Tonali, 26, is close and could cost €108.2m plus €8.8m, near €120m.
These fees dwarf De Zerbi’s previous top deals, Joao Pedro to Brighton for €34.2m in July 2023 and Igor Paixao to Marseille for €30m last summer. With close to €280m committed across his first three Spurs signings, one still pending, he has already topped the €260m spent on 31 arrivals during his July 2024 to February 2026 stint at OM.
Spurs’ previous single-window record was €247m in summer 2023 on Brennan Johnson, James Maddison, Pedro Porro, Micky Van De Ven and Dejan Kulusevski. That mark has already been passed this summer.
De Zerbi still wants at least two frontline attackers to push for a top-6 finish. Free agents Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Martin Dubravka have joined. The pursuit of Manchester City winger Savinho, 22, is advanced and could cost around €60m.
