Francesco Totti’s comment after seeing Roma miss three penalty kicks against Lille has gone viral in Italy: ‘This has never happened in football’s history,’ said the Giallorossi legend.
Roma missed three penalty kicks in a 1-0 loss against Lille on Thursday, and Totti’s reaction has gone viral in Italy.
As reported by several media, including Corriere dello Sport and Gazzetta, Totti sent his comment to a group of friends via WhatsApp, but his voice message quickly became public.

“Come on, it’s a joke, don’t kid around,” Totti said, according to reports.
“They used to give me a hard time, saying I only scored on penalties and that it was easy to take penalties. This has never happened in football’s history. Three in a row! Only Roma pull off stuff like this, unbelievable.”
Artem Dovbyk missed the first attempt, but Roma were allowed to retake the penalty because of encroachment.

The Ukraine international failed the second penalty kick as well, while Matias Soulé missed the third. Lille keeper Berke Ozer saved all three spot kicks.
Just like Totti, Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini could not believe his eyes, saying after the final whistle that he had “never seen three penalties missed like that.”
Roma’s next league game is against Fiorentina at the Stadio Franchi on Sunday.
