Two years after leaving West Ham to sign with Besiktas, Arthur Masuaku is poised for a return to the English top flight.

Currently without a club, the Congolese left-back is on the verge of joining Sunderland. The 31-year-old has already successfully completed his medical and is expected to put pen to paper this Saturday, August 9, 2025.

The Congolese international (27 caps, 3 goals) made a strong impression with the Hammers, tallying 2 goals and 10 assists in 128 appearances. The Premier League is a competition he knows well, which should ease his adaptation.

During his time at Besiktas, Masuaku registered 3 goals and 18 assists in 108 matches. However, that wasn't enough for him to stay with the Istanbul club.

With the Black Cats, the former Olympiacos player will be reunited with another Congolese international, Noah Sadiki, who only joined the club a few weeks ago.
