Transfer window – Soler set for Real Sociedad move, Paris fans fume

Carlos Soler, a 28-year-old midfielder who joined Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2022 from Valencia with a contract until 2027, has not managed to impress on the field and was loaned to West Ham for the 2024-2025 season. He returned to Paris, with a solution needed for his future. It should be at Real Sociedad. The Athletic and journalist Fabrizio Romano announced this Wednesday that a loan deal is almost finalized.

“Agreement in principle between Real Sociedad and PSG for Carlos Soler: loan, pending administrative formalities and medical examinations. Real could still purchase the midfielder permanently in the future. He is expected to arrive in San Sebastián tomorrow.”

“Carlos Soler to Real Sociedad, it's happening! PSG has just accepted the final offer after the verbal agreement revealed earlier. Initial loan with a purchase option clause, Real Sociedad will cover the majority of the salary until 2026. Real considers this deal highly likely to become permanent.”

While Soler's move to Real Sociedad seemed like excellent news, with a transfer of over 10 million euros being mentioned, it ultimately turned out to be a loan. A huge disappointment for Parisian supporters, with a player whose future remains uncertain and to be resolved later. It is understandable, even though it is much better than seeing Soler stuck in Paris without playing time.
