Liverpool could be set to lose Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid, which could result in Celtic making £10m. Alexander-Arnold, is poised to join Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer, concluding a remarkable 20-year tenure at Anfield.
This news wouldn’t ordinarily come onto Celtic’s radar but for the rumour that Arne Slot is considering replacing TAA with Jeremie Frimpong. A report by Spanish outlet Defenca Central claims that Frimpong will sign for Liverpool in the summer.
This report came before Fabrizio Romano confirmed that TAA would be joining the La Liga Giants.
Liverpool made efforts to secure Alexander-Arnold’s future but it is being reported that he has agreed to a five-year contract with the Spanish giants. This move reunites him with England teammate Jude Bellingham and addresses Real Madrid’s quest for a top-tier right-back.
Trent’s departure means that Liverpool will need a quality right fullback to replace the English Internationalist. The Scottish Champions have a 25% sell-on fee on Frimpong, which they installed in the 2021 deal to sell the player to Bayer Leverkusen.

Frimpong began his professional career at Celtic, making 51 appearances across all competitions from 2019 to January 2021. During his time with the Scottish club, he scored 3 goals and provided 8 assists.
In January 2021, Frimpong transferred to Bayer Leverkusen. The Dutchman has made 110 appearances for the German club, scoring 21 goals and contributing significantly to the team’s success.
Alexander-Arnold’s departure signifies a pivotal moment for Liverpool, where he has been instrumental in clinching the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and League Cup. His exit, alongside uncertainties surrounding key players like Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, presents a significant challenge for manager Slot as he looks to complete a squad overhaul after a successful first campaign.
