Tunnel footage raises questions over Chelsea players’ conduct after Hull win
Chelsea players sparked debate after appearing to ignore young Hull City mascots following their FA Cup victory on Saturday.
Players of Chelsea have come under criticism after post-match moment during their FA Cup round of 32 tie against Hull City.
Chelsea secured clear 4-0 win at Hull, with Pedro Neto scoring hat-trick in the 40th, 51st and 71 minutes while Estevao added another goal in the 59 minute.
However attention quickly shifted away from the result after the final whistle.
As Chelsea players walked through the tunnel toward the dressing rooms, several Hull City child mascots, dressed in the club’s orange kit, were waiting to greet them.
Images & videos shared on social media showed that most Chelsea players walked past without stopping while only one or two briefly greeted the children.
The footage captured clear disappointment on the faces of the youngsters.
The incident caused strong reactions online. Many supporters criticized the players’ behavior calling it “disrespectful” and lacking sportsmanship.
According to reports from the Daily Mail, some fans felt the moment showed a lack of respect toward the host club and its supporters.
Others defended the players, pointing out that cup matches can be physically demanding and that players often head straight to the dressing room to recover or celebrate the win.
