Santiago Gimenez broke his goal drought during the 2-0 win over Venezia on Sunday afternoon, and now he has a mission in mind.
As Tuttosport (via MilanPress) reports this morning, it is too early to talk about a goal in the 95th minute against a side in the bottom three being the definitive cure to psychological problems, but it was needed and it could be a building block.
It also doesn’t matter if it came more off his calf/shin than with the instep of his boot: the Mexican lives for scoring goals. The run in behind was a reminder of what he is all about, and finding the net is the other aspect he hopes to prove he can do reliably.
Gimenez will be confirmed as the first choice for next season, as per the paper, but El Bebote is now looking to re-overturn the hierarchies this season. The former Feyenoord man has an aim: to be the starter for the Coppa Italia final.
As of today, Luka Jovic is still expected to get the nod from the first minute against Bologna after his brace fired Milan to the derby semi-final win, but who knows what can happen between now and May 14th. If anything, Jovic stands as proof that the pecking order is a temporary thing.
