The 23 year old Irish International, despite impressing in flashes, has had limited opportunities in a Celtic shirt, and spent the second half of last season on loan at league one side Bolton Wanderers.

Kenny impressed at the trotters scoring six goals that contributed to their promotion to the championship, before suffering an injury towards the end of the season, which resulted in the striker being sent back to Glasgow for treatment.

It was thankfully not as serious as first feared, and he’s now fighting back to fitness, indeed he’s been pictured training with the rest of his Celtic teammates in Portugal.

Bolton are said to one of the sides interested in securing a permanent deal for the striker, with London side Millwall believed to be the other side keen on the 23 year old who has two caps for the Republic of Ireland.

Kenny is contracted to Celtic until 2029, having recently signed a new improved deal, and its believed an offer in the region of £1.5 – £2 million would be enough to tempt Celtic to sell.

The Irishman signed for the club in 2022 for an undisclosed fee from Sligo Rovers, and has made 32 appearances for the first team, scoring 7 goals.

He’s also enjoyed loan spells at Queens Park, Shamrock Rovers, and of course Bolton.

Despite being down the pecking order at Celtic, Martin O’Neill will be reluctant to cash in on Johnny, as we still remain a bit light up top, with only Callum Osmand, and the recently signed Camilo Duran as the other options the Irishman has to call upon.

That could all change of course if Kelechi Iheancaho as expected resigns for the club in the coming weeks.
