Two players whose futures will be affected by Barcelona’s pursuit of Karim Adeyemi | OneFootball

News of Karim Adeyemi’s move to Barcelona has come out of the blue, and the board have done incredibly well to keep matters silent to this point.

The player has an agreement in principle with the Catalans and all that remains is for the two clubs to negotiate the fee – something that should not take too long.

Adeyemi’s arrival, however, relatively overloads the wings for Barcelona who already have Raphinha, Anthony Gordon and Lamine Yamal as options. 

SPORT now brings to light two implications of the latest signing on Barcelona’s transfer plans.

A guaranteed departure

As relayed by the outlet, the club will now send Roony Bardghji straight to the departure ranks and will push for him to leave the club this summer. After all, Adeyemi will provide a higher quality cover for the same position.

Next week, the club will meet with his agents to discuss his future and find the best solution for all parties involved. What they prefer is a sale with a buyback option, but a complete hard transfer is not ruled out either. They do, however, want a sizeable fee from the transfer.

So far, several Premier League clubs have shown interest in the player and England appears to be his most likely destination.

Juventus, Ajax and Porto have also emerged as options, but are unlikely to match the same economic offer as English clubs. The player, however, will make the final decision.

The Rashford option closes

The second direct effect of the Adeyemi transfer on Barcelona’s plans is that Marcus Rashford’s door back to the club is now virtually shut beyond doubt.

Barcelona’s attacking unit is now complete and there is no space for another winger to arrive. The Catalans’ clause to sign him has expired regardless, but he may not arrive even if Manchester United hand him out on a low fee.

The only scenario where the door for the Englishman will open once more is if the club fail to sign a number nine or Raphinha leaves the club.

Needless to say, the situation is rough on Rashford who delivered good numbers and wanted to stay but has been shown the door.
