Orazio Accomando reports that Udinese Calcio and Cagliari Calcio have emerged as potential takers for VfB Stuttgart attacker “Silas” Katompa Mvumpa. The 26-year-old’s Bundesliga club presently shop their recent loan returnee for an approximate price tag of €8m. Silas has also loosely been linked with other Bundesliga clubs, as well as Everton and Villarreal.

A recent report in Sport Bild nevertheless seems to suggest that the Congo DR international wishes to remain in Swabia and fight for playing time. An ankle injury in April forced Silas to bow out at his loan club, Red Star Belgrade. The German tabloid claims that the one-time €25m-valued player has thrown everything into his rehab assignments and is in top shape.

Silas’ Stuttgart contract expires at the end of next season and it remains unclear how he might fit into head coach Sebastian Hoeneß’ plans tactically. It is such that a move makes a great deal of sense for both sides. Despite his legal and injury struggle over the years, Silas does bring with him the experience of 91 German top flight appearances and 21 Bundesliga goals.
