Manchester United were held to an entertaining 4-4 draw against Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Monday, 15 November, in the Premier League. The Red Devils have now scored 30 goals in 16 league games this season, with only Manchester City managing more.
The attack has been rejuvenated following the summer’s reinforcements, while Bruno Fernandes has retained his creative powers despite operating from a deeper role this season. However, the English giants’ inability to keep out goals has hurt them this season.
United have now conceded 26 goals, the second most after Bournemouth among the top 15 teams. While the defence has to take its share of the blame, there is also a belief that the Red Devils need more steel in the middle of the park, with Casemiro no longer young and out of contract in six months.
The Premier League giants are linked with several names for the job at the moment, and a recent report relayed by The Peoples Person has named Tyler Adams among the targets ahead of January.
Adams was in the starting XI against United on Monday, but he picked up an injury early in the game and had to be replaced in the fifth minute. While his Old Trafford audition did not go according to plan, the American has already done enough to convince the Red Devils.
Adams has been integral to Andoni Iraola’s plans this season, registering 16 appearances across competitions, all but one of which have been starts.

While Adams could be a shrewd bit of business for United during the middle of the season, it now appears that prising him away in January will not be easy.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, acclaimed journalist Fabrizio Romano insisted that the Cherries want to keep hold of Adams beyond January. He said: “For the January window, there could be more about opportunities but Bournemouth want to keep a player like Tyler Adams.”
“Bournemouth believe that Tyler Adams is a really important player for them and so it’s not going to be easy eventually for Man United to try to find a solution in terms of pricing and in terms of timing.”
Romano went on to add that Bournemouth have no desire to lose both Antoine Semenyo and Adams in the middle of the campaign.
“Bournemouth want to keep him also because there is the Antoine Semenyo situation. And so for Bournemouth, imagine losing two players like Tyler Adams, Semenyo after they already sold many important players in the summer transfer window.”
“At the moment, Bournemouth insist on keeping Tyler Adams at the club. Then we will be following the situation. We will see what’s going to happen.”
“For the moment, it’s an appreciation from United. Man United like the player, see him as an eventual option, but at the moment again he’s not the only one and is not an easy one because the club insists to keep the player in the January transfer window and to complete the season with Tyler Adams as one of the crucial figures for Andoni Iraola.”
United also have their eyes on Semenyo ahead of the winter transfer window, and a recent report relayed by The Peoples Person states that they are ready to trigger his release clause next month.
Adams’ situation has now been complicated following his injury on Monday night. Iraola has since suggested that the player could have suffered a Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL) injury, which could be a huge blow to United’s plans.
The 26 year old fits INEOS’ revamped transfer strategy, given that he is proven in the Premier League. However, Adams is under contract at the Vitality Stadium until 2028, so prising him away is likely to be a costly affair.
