Africa has only one title to its name in the U20 World Cup. That lone victory was claimed by Ghana during the 2009 edition held in Egypt.

Led by the dazzling brilliance of Dominic Adiyiah, the Black Satellites put together an outstanding run throughout the tournament.

A successful group stage

Ghana topped their group with 7 points, courtesy of victories over Uzbekistan (2-1) and England (4-0), along with a draw against Uruguay (2-2).

The mental strength of the Black Satellites

The African side showcased remarkable mental resilience during the knockout rounds. In the round of 16, they battled past South Africa with a hard-fought 2-1 win, before edging out South Korea and Hungary in the quarterfinal and semifinal, both by a narrow 3-2 margin.

In the final, Ghana triumphed over Brazil in a dramatic penalty shootout, winning 4-3 after a goalless draw in regulation time.
