UEFA’s disciplinary committee has sanctioned Eintracht Frankfurt with two bans on away fans and a €38,000 fine.
After the incidents which occurred at Eintracht Frankfurt’s league phase tie away to Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League on 9 December 2025, the UEFA disciplinary committee has sanctioned the club with two bans on away fans and a €38,000 fine after fireworks were lit and thrown, other objects were also thrown and damage caused.
In terms of away fans, the ban imposed on 4 February 2025 related to the away game against AS Roma in the UEFA Europa League is now no longer suspended, with a ban on away fans imposed for another European away tie.
“We have requested the reasoning behind the verdict and reserve the right to appeal with regard to the additional away-game ban,” said board member Philipp Reschke regarding the sanctions and their consequences. “What is clear now, however, is that things cannot go on in this way, as this is the third penalty of this kind since 2019. We will make clear and targeted adjustments, which we will set out in detail very soon.”
Eintracht Frankfurt will therefore not be allowed away fans at the penultimate league phase match on 21 January 2026 at Qarabağ FK, or – subject to an appeal – at the following away game in a European club competition.
