Signing a new striker is currently the number one priority of FC Barcelona as they go into the next summer transfer window. The Blaugranes were already looking to land a new center-forward for some time, but now, with Robert Lewandowski gone, their need to sign another top striker has become even more urgent.

For this reason, several names have already been discussed internally in recent weeks. Among the most prominent options are Julian Alvarez and Joao Pedro, both seen as long-term profiles who could fit the club project, although neither would come cheaply given their importance at their current clubs.

Another name that continues to appear in the conversation is Harry Kane. The England captain has delivered an outstanding season with Bayern Munich, scoring 61 goals across all competitions.

However, any talk of a possible move has been strongly dismissed by Bayern’s hierarchy. As SPORT has reported, speaking after their DFB Pokal win, honorary president Uli Hoeness was very clear about the club’s stance and Kane’s situation.

“Harry Kane is the best signing we have ever made. FC Bayern is a club that buys, not one that sells. Will he stay? Yes, and Barcelona, in any case, don’t have the money.”

The message leaves little room for interpretation, with Bayern fully convinced about keeping their star striker, who is under contract until 2027. Despite his age, the German club sees him as a key part of their long-term project.

From Barcelona’s side, Kane would actually represent a more affordable option compared to other targets such as Alvarez or Joao Pedro, especially when taking into account experience and guaranteed output. However, the financial reality at the club continues to play a major role in any transfer decision, particularly when it comes to wages and transfer fees.

Meanwhile, Kane himself has remained calm when asked about his future:

“It is not the time to talk about that now, but there is no panic. We wanted to hold talks until the end of the season, and we still have a World Cup to play. But everyone knows how much I enjoy it here. The situation is calm.”

For now, Barcelona continue to assess their options, but Bayern’s strong public stance has made any potential move extremely complicated, at least at this stage of the transfer window.
