Valencia are negotiating a four-way deal to sign Unai Núñez as Carlos Corberán seeks urgent cover at centre-back.
According to Superdeporte, the Celta de Vigo defender is on loan at Hellas Verona after moving last summer, which complicates talks. With Diakhaby injured and Tárrega unavailable, Copete and Cömert are the only specialist centre-backs. Núñez has been high on the shortlist since last summer.
Núñez turns 29 this month and is a Lezama graduate. He made 131 appearances for Athletic Club across two spells at San Mamés and debuted for Spain in 2019 under Robert Moreno. He later played 76 games for Celta across two seasons.
A right-footer who has often operated on the left, he is comfortable in a back three, the system Verona frequently use, and he starts regularly. At 186 centimetres he is powerful in the air and robust in duels. He also hits accurate long passes to speed transitions and can cover at right-back.
He has 18 appearances for Hellas Verona. Across Spain he has scored 3 LaLiga goals and 1 in the Copa del Rey. His disciplinary record includes 51 LaLiga yellow cards, 5 in Serie A and 4 in the Copa del Rey.
