Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has called for cool heads following their Betway Premiership defeat to Richards Bay on Tuesday.

The Soweto giants fell to a solitary goal from Thulani Gumede, which has them stagnant in fifth place on the log standings, having amassed 30 points from 18 league outings.

Chiefs have now lost four games in a row across all competitions, but the embattled Kaze has urged calm as his and Khalil Ben Youssef's future becomes increasingly uncertain.

“It is a difficult time and sometimes a team that goes through things like that - that's where we need to stay calm, to find solutions because if we start panicking then things can get bad. We need to keep our calm, we need to keep our heads loosened and try to find solutions,” he said.

Reflecting on the defeat against the Natal RichBoyz, the CAF A License holder believes his team suffered from finer details and lack of clear-cut scoring opportunities.

“I would say that we entered the game well in the first 15 to 20 minutes, we were threatening the opponent's goal and after that we started to get a little bit defensive and I believe the threat was every ball they played into our defence . Our defence was a little bit shaky, it wasn't really clean,” Kaze added.

"First half there was not a lot of opportunities for both teams. We came back to the second period, we thought that we were doing good but we felt that we didn't threaten enough their defensive line because probably we had a lot of players that are fit ballers, that have the ball on the feet.

"We didn't make enough runs behind the defensive line. We tried to correct that with the introduction of some players, but unfortunately we conceded a goal in a moment that I feel we were the better team on the field and after that it was a difficult situation. We tried to do everything to come back.

"But after we made our substitutions [Nkanyiso] Shinga got injured and then we had to finish the last 10 minutes of the game with 10 players. It was difficult and it's a disappointing result, but it's a bad moment, we need to keep our heads straight and be calm and work very hard to get back to our good days.

Chiefs will return to action with a clash against Durban City at FNB Stadium on Sunday, 15 March, as they aim to beat the slump.
