Football League World's Reading FC fan pundit claims defender Tyler Bindon is the Royals' best player

Reading FC are currently in the financial doldrums, courtesy of the mismanagement overseen by club owner Dai Yongge, while a recent takeover attempt by former Wycombe Wanderers owner Rob Couhig fell through.

Couhig told The Athletic that he still does not know why his takeover deal collapsed. He said: "To this date, I have not been told why the deal wasn’t done. All the documents had been drafted and circulated by the sellers’ lawyers, and they had been signed by every party, including the minority owners in Thailand, apart from Dai Yongge."

But while the Royals continue to suffer from Yongge's failing ownership off the field, they are actually performing well on the pitch amid tough circumstances.

Ruben Selles' squad have proven their worth in the third tier so far this term, with impressive results such as a 2-1 win over promotion hopefuls Huddersfield back in September, as well as an emphatic 4-1 triumph over Crawley last month.

Royals fan pundit makes Tyler Bindon admission

With the Royals' relatively strong on-field exploits in mind, Football League World quizzed our Reading fan pundit, Johnny Hunt, on who he thinks his club's best player is right now, and how he would sum him up in one word.

In his response, Johnny tipped Tyler Bindon to depart unless there are significant changes at the top end of the club.

Johnny answered: "I think it's such a young team, to try and pick out one (player). I think the one with the most potential, I'd say, is Tyler Bindon.

"For a young lad that's coming into football, he looks class, and that's the word I'd use - class.

"But he's a great player and a leader, (with a) calm head, way beyond his years.

"I don't know how long he will stay at Reading, because I think he's one that's destined for much better and bigger things unless the club get ourselves sorted.

"He's one that I've really enjoyed watching develop, and another underrated player because nobody would have given him two looks when he came to us the summer before last.

"We just thought he was going to be an under-23 player and to look at him now, he's unreal, and hopefully he'll stay injury-free and keep us up or get us promoted."

Tyler Bindon is a class act

One of the biggest stories in the Football League so far this season is that, despite all their financial uncertainties, the Royals are in contention for a League One play-off spot.

The fact this is the case is not only down to the impressive management of Selles, but also due to a young squad performing exceptionally well on a regular basis.

Bindon is one of the best examples of that, as, at just 19 years old, he has become a seasoned third-tier defender, who made no fewer than 40 league appearances last campaign.

This season, he has remained a key player for Selles, who is calm when in possession, as well as being a solid defender when out of possession.

The centre-half is a tenacious player who does not shy away from either ground duels or aerial duels, while he scored an unlikely brace for New Zealand during an 8-1 win over Vanuatu in World Cup qualifying during the recent international break.

His ability to produce the goods on the international stage shows that the Royals have a high-quality defender on their hands, who is perhaps even too good for League One, which is extremely lucky given the trying circumstances that surround the club.
