Manchester United have struggled for goals this season due to the poor form of strikers Joshua Zirkee and Rasmus Hojlund.
Zirkzee and Hojlund have scored just five Premier League goals between them.
United tried bolstering their attacking options in the winter transfer window but failed.
The Red Devils will explore the market again in the summer for a striker, and Nigeria international Victor Osimhen may be on their radar.
Osimhen is on loan with Galatasaray from Napoli but is expected to leave the latter permanently this summer.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed via his YouTube channel that United have not made a move for Osimhen yet.
He said: “Several clubs are looking for strikers, including Man United, but at this point, they have not reached out to the Osimhen camp or Napoli.
“They are monitoring several strikers but it is still too early to see who is going to be the new striker for Man United.”
Osimhen is one of the finest strikers in Europe and has the potential to solve United’s goalscoring woes.
However, United would possibly be priced out of a move for the former African Footballer of the Year.
Osimhen’s release clause is around £66 million, a valuation that United might find excessive. He will command huge wages, preventing United from signing him.
United also want to sign a young striker, but Osimhen turns 27 in December.
United will probably target a younger and cheaper striker than Osimhen this summer.
