Upheaval continues: Bayern makes two personnel decisions

The upheaval in FC Bayern’s youth academy continues. Following the appointment of a new campus manager, the Munich club have apparently made two far-reaching personnel decisions. At the center of this are Markus Weinzierl and Peter Gaydarov, whose future at the record champions is probably not secure beyond the summer.

As reported by Sport BILD, the collaboration with Weinzierl will come to an end when his contract expires in the summer. The former Bundesliga coach only moved to Säbener Straße in the summer of 2024 and took over the role of Sporting Director at the Campus from Halil Altintop. Despite the positive development of numerous young players, there are now plans to part ways.

New Campus boss sets new course

The decision is apparently directly linked to the reorientation of the youth academy. Michael Wiesinger, the new head of the Campus, will take over responsibility on 1 May – and according to the report, he is said to have played a key role in the personnel decision. According to the report, Wiesinger has spoken out against further cooperation with Weinzierl.

There had already been initial indications in January that Weinzierl’s position was under discussion internally. The planned separation now indicates that the Bayern management would like to realign the campus structurally. In doing so, they appear to be prepared to take consistent steps in terms of personnel.

At the same time, according to Sport BILD, the club will also part ways with U19 coach Peter Gaydarov, thus sending a further signal that FCB wants to set new impulses in the youth sector.

The developments come at a time when the Bayern campus is making positive headlines in sporting terms. Under Vincent Kompany, numerous talented youngsters have made the leap to the professional ranks this season. Players such as Lennart Karl, who has now even played his way into the national team’s sights, are emblematic of the successful youth development work. David Santos, Maycon Cardozo, Cassiano Kiala, Erblin Osmani, Deniz Ofli, Wisdom Mike and Filip Pavic also celebrated their first appearances in the professional game.

This makes the decision against Weinzierl all the more remarkable, as it shows that those responsible not only want to continue on the path they have embarked on, but also develop it structurally.

Holger Seitz, on the other hand, remains an important constant. The long-time Bayern employee, currently coach of the second team, is to remain with the club in another role. His expertise in the youth sector continues to enjoy great trust internally. Seitz has been active in various roles at the Campus for over a decade and is considered an important building block in talent development.

The latest decisions underline FC Bayern’s intention to focus even more strongly on the campus in future – albeit with an adapted personnel structure. The upheaval in the youth sector is therefore in full swing.
