After suffering a concussion in Bayern Munich’s 6-1 Champions League last-16 first-leg win over Atalanta last week, Jonas Urbig returned to goalkeeper training on Monday, boosting hopes that the 22-year-old could be fit to feature in Wednesday’s second leg.

However, as reported by Sport1, his availability for the match remains uncertain.

Following the training session on Monday, Urbig completed the necessary medical checks with good results, but he was not completely symptom-free and still experienced discomfort – particularly when landing after jumps – and this could prevent him from playing on Wednesday.

Urbig is expected to participate in Bayern’s final training session on Tuesday, after which a decision on his involvement will be made.

According to UEFA's concussion protocols, a player can only take part in a match after completing a symptom-free training session and receiving clearance from the team doctor. An examination by an independent neurological consultant is also required.

If Urbig is unavailable, 16-year-old Leonard Prescott is likely to start in goal, as Bayern’s other senior goalkeepers – Manuel Neuer, Sven Ulreich and Leon Klanac – are all sidelined with injuries.
