Utrecht beat FC Twente 2-0 in Enschede, climbing from ninth to eighth in the Eredivisie.

In the 32nd minute, Artem Stepanov struck from close range to put the visitors ahead.

After the restart, Ángel Alarcón doubled the lead with a left-footed finish into the top left after Gjivai Zechiël's pass (66.).

Twente rallied as Sam Lammers shot wide from the centre (71.), and substitute Ricky van Wolfswinkel rattled the crossbar late on (81.).

Vasilis Barkas preserved the clean sheet, tipping away Arno Verschueren's header (85.).

In the fourth minute of second half stoppage time, Stav Lemkin missed from distance as the hosts' late pressure faded.

Utrecht registered eight shots on target from 10 attempts. FC Twente had 61.5% possession and 16 attempts but could not find a way through.
