Liverpool returned to winning ways without Mo Salah as they beat Inter Milan 1-0 at the San Siro.

Dominik Szoboszlai’s second-half penalty handed the Reds a 1-0 win in the Champions League on a night dominated by VAR controversy.

Ibrahima Konate thought he had given Liverpool the lead in the first half when he headed home from close range, before it was disallowed after a long VAR delay for a questionable handball by Hugo Ekitike.

But it was Inter left feeling aggrieved at the end of the game, when a shirt pull by Alessandro Bastoni on Florian Wirtz was deemed worthy of a spot-kick, despite protests from the home side.

Szoboszlai stepped up to rifle home and hand Arne Slot a much needed victory, taking the attention somewhat away from Mo Salah’s omission following his outspoken interview last week.
