Vasco have terminated Jean David’s contract, which had been due to run until June next year. According to Globo.com, the rescission is already recorded in the CBF’s Boletim Informativo Diário (BID) on Monday.
The Chilean forward was not in Fernando Diniz’s plans and had been sidelined from the first-team group.
Signed in August last year for about US$ 1.5 million, R$ 8.5 million at the time, he has not featured since 15 April, a 2-1 defeat to Ceará in the fourth round of the Brasileirão. On that occasion he came on in added time and played only a few minutes.
His last start came in January in the win over Maricá in the Carioca. Since Diniz took charge, he was named in only two matchday squads, the 10th-round loss to Fluminense in the Brasileirão and the Sul-Americana win over Melgar, both in May.
Vasco sought a move for him in the mid-year window, with enquiries arriving from Mexico and Chile, but talks did not progress. He leaves after 15 appearances for the club and without a goal contribution.
