Vasco wore a QR code in place of the main shirt sponsor against Athletico Paranaense at São Januário on Sunday night, in the 15th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. The initiative marked the 10-year anniversary of the club's membership programme and offered prizes to supporters.

According to Globo.com, scanning the code gives access to different rewards, including a visit to São Januário, entry to a box and a tour of the training centre. Each player's shirt links to a distinct prize.

The activation will be repeated against Paysandu on Wednesday, the second leg of the fourth round of the Copa do Brasil, at São Januário.

With no main sponsor in place, Vasco opted for this campaign to promote visits to the stadium in a different way. It is the first time the club have used a QR code on the kit for promotion.

Talks with SportingBet over the prime shirt space had advanced, but internal disagreements over the figures stalled an agreement.
