Nicolas Jackson holds up a Bayern shirt ahead of his move.

“This Nicolas Jackson transfer seems very strange. I’m starting to feel a bit sorry for him. Firstly Chelsea didn’t want him anymore. Which is fair enough. He is replaceable. But then he flies to Munich to sign for Bayern. When he gets there, Chelsea tell him, ‘you need to come back, Liam Delap is injured’, funnily enough he didn’t fancy that,” Jones explained.

“He stayed in Germany and now we’re hearing he even contributed to the loan fee to make sure his move to Bayern could happen. Should all be good from there right? No. One of the Bayern board members, Uli Hoeness, says Jackson needs to start 40 games for this loan deal to become permanent, and basically rules it out from happening. He said a permanent deal ain’t going to happen. Brilliant, what a way to make Jackson feel welcome.”

Jackson not deserving of too much sympathy

We wouldn’t feel too sorry for him – he got exactly what he wanted. He effectively forced through his move to Bayern, even when Chelsea seemed determined to bring him back. He may not get the long term deal there he wants, but Chelsea are happy to sell him in general, and if he does well on loan in the Bundesliga there should be no shortage of takers.

Let’s cool it with the sympathy for players getting to move around Europe’s top clubs getting paid fortunes – there are plenty of players and people who do deserve sympathy.
