Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is reportedly seeking to become Manchester United's highest-paid player should he transfer to the club this summer.
According to from Give Me Sport, Osimhen is demanding a weekly salary of approximately £413,000, matching his current earnings at Napoli. This figure would surpass the wages of United's current top earners, including captain Bruno Fernandes, posing a significant financial consideration for the club.
United, under the ownership of INEOS, are undergoing a financial restructuring aimed at reducing the club's wage bill, with Osimhen's potential move at odds with news from earlier this year that the club made hundreds of employees redundant.
Despite the financial hurdles, Osimhen remains a top target for United's manager, Ruben Amorim, who is keen to bolster the team's attacking options following a challenging season. The club are reportedly prepared to meet Napoli's valuation of around £62 million for the striker.
Currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, Osimhen has impressed with 24 goals in 27 appearances this season.
Osimhen's desire to play in the Champions League adds another layer of complexity to the potential transfer. Manchester United's qualification for the competition depends entirely on whether they beat Tottenham in the Europa League final later this month.
