Chelsea have equalised against Wrexham!

It’s been a pretty poor first half from the heavily changed Blues. They hadn’t had a shot on target until this goal, and the home side had taken the lead in the game.

But a strong run from midfield by Liam Delap changed everything. The striker took it in the centre circle, turned and drove forward, sucking in defenders and blowing past them with sheer power.

Delap’s surge and Garnacho’s finish put Chelsea ahead

.Just as it looked like he was lining up to shoot, he played a clever disguised pass out to the left wing where Alejandro Garnacho was attacking the box. The winger took a pretty weak shot, but it went through a defender’s legs and hit another player on the line, bouncing back out onto the keeper then back in.

It was a fortunate one, but we’ll take it. Hopefully that brings some confidence to a previously nervy performance. We’ve got to keep getting Delap the ball in positions where he can hurt the opposition, his physicality is potentially vital in this game, and we need a couple of goals here to make sure things are more comfortable in the second half.

In other news…

It looked like Chelsea had used a back five today, but it’s actually played out a little differently on the pitch.

You can see the full starting XI in the post here, with a full nine changes for the Blues.
