It’s been a superb game at Villa Park, and after 20 minutes the Blues are back level. They’ve played well, and this goal is the least they deserve.
It all began in midfield, where Enzo Fernandez was given far too much space and time to pick out Malo Gusto, who was surging forward down the right on the overlap.
It wasn’t the first time that pass was on either – Moises Caicedo was offered the same run moments before and didn’t have the confidence to try and pick Gusto out.
Enzo did, and he did it brilliantly. Gusto brought it down in stride, then fired a perfect low cross across the box to Joao Pedro, who was on hand to slide the ball in.
It’s what Chelsea deserve – now can they go on and get a winner? This has been a really open game, which is making it fun to watch, but it’s a risky strategy from Chelsea as they’re threatened time after time by Villa on the break. Eventually it will be time to try and calm the play down and see if we can get the crowd quiet.

Liam Rosenior took a huge gamble for this game by playing Filip Jorgensen ahead of Robert Sanchez, and we addressed that decision here.
