Manchester United’s search for a new striker finally seems to be coming to an end.

The club has finally submitted a bid for RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, and is currently vying for his signature alongwith Newcastle.

INEOS have missed out on the signings of Liam Delap and Viktor Gyokeres, and now, another of their former targets has also taken a call on his future.

Bayer Leverkusen’s Patrik Schick was linked with a move to Old Trafford following his fantastic season in Germany.

Patrik Schick rumours

The Czech forward scored 27 goals in all competitions last season, and that naturally attracted the interest of Europe’s biggest sides including the Red Devils.

In fact, Arsenal and Chelsea were also linked with a move with the player’s contract set to expire in 2027 and genuine rumours emerged of him wanting a move.

The 29-year-old, however, has chosen to stay at his current club following former United boss Erik ten Hag’s arrival.

He has signed a new deal which will keep at the BayArena until 2030.

New deal agreed

“I want to and will continue to contribute goals, that’s my strength. In addition, I’m also looking to being a key part of the rebuild into a new team capable of winning trophies,” the 29-year-old told Leverkusen’s official website.

“The future is looking good. Bayer 04 are working very hard on building a top team for the future. I firmly believe we will continue to play a leading role in the Bundesliga and in Europe in the future.”

United fans will not be too disappointed, and will be hoping the club can get a deal for Sesko over the line in the next few days.

Newcastle have handed the Slovenian a 48-hour ultimatum, while the 20-time English league champions have submitted their offer with the player set to decide his own fate.
