La Liga outfit Villarreal have this week touched base with their counterparts at Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais.
That’s according to market insider Fabrizio Romano, who points towards Arnaud Kalimuendo as the subject of the Yellow Submarine’s inquiry.
Those in the boardroom at La Ceràmica currently find themselves on the lookout for reinforcements in the final third.
This comes after the summer departures of both Thierno Barry, and Álex Baena.
Amid this search, a whole host of attackers, in turn, have been earmarked as potential signings on the part of the Villarreal brass.
And as alluded to above, this week, first contacts have been made with one such target’s club.
As per a report from journalist Fabrizio Romano:
‘Villarreal and Brentford have both made contact to be informed on deal conditions for Arnaud Kalimuendo. He’s one to watch this month with concrete chances of move.’
Striker Kalimuendo is for his part fresh off a productive season in Ligue 1 last time out, which saw the 23-year-old rack up 17 goals and four assists in the colours of the aforementioned Rennes.
