Goncalo Inacio and Pierre Kalulu could join Liverpool this summer

Liverpool's defensive performances have been pretty poor this term.

The Reds' backline has arguably been the worst area of their team with players such as Jeremie Frimpong and Ibrahima Konate failing to meet expectations.

That's why, since the start of the campaign there have been several defenders linked with a move and now, as per fresh reports from online outlets Goncalo Inacio and Pierre Kalulu could be on their way to Anfield.

Both players are fairly versatile but their natural positions are at the heart of the defence.

They're both similar ages (24 and 25) which is why the decision for Liverpool could be tough.

Inacio and Kalulu both have plenty of experience at a decent level and, since the Reds are all about building for their future, it feels nailed on that one of them will end up joining.

That is, especially if Joe Gomez finally ends up exiting Anfield in the summer.

Comparing who would be better for Liverpool between Pierre Kalulu and Goncalo Inacio

As mentioned, both players have similar profiles and each bring their own quirks to the table.

In terms of speed, Kalulu slightly edges out the Portugal international which means that he can comfortably play at right-back if needed which has been a problem area for Liverpool this term.

Inacio mostly plays as a centre-back and, while he may have less speed behind him than the Frenchman, his ability to out-do his opponents in duels is second-to-none.

Inacio is also slightly taller than Kalulu which, in this day and age, feels essential to be a successful centre-back.

However, even though the Portugal international would be available for around £50 million, Juventus have a 'not for sale' stance on Kalulu which could make negotiations difficult.

Whichever way Liverpool end up going, one thing is certain, they'll be in safe hands.
