Borussia Mönchengladbach sporting director Roland Virkus has denied reports emerging in Germany's main sporting tabloid concerning an ultimatum issued to head-coach Gerardo Seoane. During the recent international break, Germany's "Sport Bild" tabloid reported that Seoane had been issued a "three-match-ultimatum" following a disappointing start to the season.

Virkus - speaking to Sky Germany on Friday - claimed that no such ultimatum had been issued. Virkus stood by his statements roundly condemning Gladbach's most recent league performance against Augsburg. Virkus specifically outlined the club's goals for the season as well, managing expectations by emphasizing that the foals simply aimed for a finish in the top-half of the table.

“There is no ultimatum for the coach," Virkus said, "We can't influence reports emanating from outside [the organization].”We have to focus on the things we can influence, preparing for the next game [against Heidenheim] in the best possible way. That's important. Our goal for the season is a single-digit-place in the table. We now have to catch up and score points. That's the goal against Heidenheim, but also in the next few games.”
