Aston Villa defender Kosta Nedeljkovic is unlikely to be signed on a permanent basis by RB Leipzig in the summer, with a switch dubbed ‘virtually impossible’.
The attacking full-back made a name for himself playing for Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade, where he featured in 20 senior matches.
Aston Villa were impressed with his performances in Serbia and signed him more than two years ago, when he was only 18, banking on his potential.
He did make some appearances under Unai Emery last season, but in the winter window of last year, Nedeljkovic was loaned out to Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.
And Die Roten Bulen’s managing director lauded Nedeljkovic’s arrival at the club, while pointing out the intelligence and dynamism in his play.

RB Leipzig had an option to make his signing permanent for €10.5m with a €4.5m bonus package, but he played fewer than 500 minutes.
Aston Villa again had him out of their plans last summer and loaned him back to the German club, but Nedeljkovic has not seen his situation improve.
The 20-year-old has clocked just 297 minutes across all competitions so far, and has not featured since RB Leipzig’s 3-1 loss against Bayer Leverkusen, back in December.
And now, according to German daily Bild, it is ‘virtually impossible’ that RB Leipzig will trigger the option to buy in the loan agreement.

The Villa loanee did feature for his country for seven minutes against Spain last month, but the Bundesliga side do not see him as part of their plans.
Ole Werner’s side are looking to move him on in the summer, which will see him return to Aston Villa when the season ends.
The Serbia international’s current deal does not expire until 2029 and the Villans will have a decision to make when he returns to Villa Park.
In the winter window, Serie A club Fiorentina were keen on loaning him for the second half of the campaign, but the deal did not materialise due to a lack of time.
Whether the 20-year-old will be allowed to show his quality in Aston Villa’s pre-season in the summer when he returns to the club remains to be seen.
