The last effort by Juventus to convince Dusan Vlahovic to prolong his expiring contract came up empty-handed. He will test free agency. The Bianconeri won’t improve their proposal, so only a U-turn by the player could alter the outcome, Corriere dello Sport informs.
The club tendered €6M annually plus add-ons. Instead, the entourage of the Serbian marksman demanded €8M yearly and a €10/15M signing bonus. The management didn’t budge, setting up his departure on a free.
Vlahovic joined Juventus from Fiorentina in January 2022 for a €70M fee and a €91,6M total package, inking an increasingly lucrative contract. He’ll most likely close his stay with 68 goals and 16 assists in 168 appearances, lifting just one Coppa Italia. His permanence cost the club €161M in total.
The Bianconeri will ramp up their efforts to bring Randal Kolo Muani back. His residual cost on the PSG’s balance sheets is €36M. Their offer will have to clear such a threshold. Robert Lewandowski is no longer an option. Among the alternatives, Alexander Sorloth is gaining traction over Jean-Philippe Mateta, Gonçalo Ramos and Gonzalo Garcia.
Giorgio Chiellini commented to AGI (via Goal).
“I’m sorry, because he cared about our team until the end and is a serious person. It’s fair for him to pursue that kind of salary. He won’t stay in Italy at those numbers.”
His exit will force them to open their purse strings, as this role should be their main priority, but at least they have clarity. It’s a bit of a shame because he looked at his best in his short time under Luciano Spalletti, but his overall sojourn has been underwhelming, considering the gargantuan disbursement.
