According to Diario Do Peixe, Juan Pablo Vojvoda is expected to remain in charge of Santos at least until Wednesday 18 against Internacional, with finances central to the decision.
The club does not currently have the cash to meet his termination clause. Dismissing him now would cost about R$ 13 million.
That figure is similar to the sum still owed from Pedro Caixinha’s exit at the start of 2025, around R$ 14.4 million, heightening boardroom reluctance to assume another severance commitment.
Santos’ cash flow is tied up with wages, image rights and instalments on signings. Further heavy liabilities could trigger broader financial strain, with fears of delays or defaults to coaches, players or clubs.
In extreme cases, such scenarios can bring CBF sporting sanctions, from points deductions to automatic relegation. The only route that would not generate an immediate cost would be Vojvoda choosing to resign.
Discontent among sections of the support was clear in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Corinthians, when some shouted “burro”. On the day, assistant Gastón Liendo was on the touchline as Vojvoda served a suspension, and similar scenes have occurred when he has been pitchside.
He led training as usual on Monday afternoon at CT Rei Pelé to start preparations for Internacional. Santos are unbeaten in three this season, beating Vasco and drawing with Mirassol and Corinthians, yet performances remain under scrutiny after the Paulista exit to Grêmio Novorizontino. In the Brasileiro they are 13th with six points from six rounds, increasing the demand for improvements.
