Bayern Munich youngster Paul Wanner, 18, has taken the next step in his development this season and impressed on loan at Heidenheim.
Wanner's performances have put him in a good position to potentially break through at Bayern Munich next season - and if his prospects of playing time there don't look promising in the summer, Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig could make a move for him.
Regardless of where Wanner ends up, Heidenheim coach Frank Schmidt is confident that the youngster will be successful.
"I think Paul has the potential to play for Bayern, Leverkusen or any other top team. I like the fact that he has a clear plan at the age of 18 and how cool he is about his situation," Schmidt told Bild, adding that he doesn't want to personally influence Wanner's future.
“FC Bayern and he himself will decide on his future. We took him on loan and we want him to leave us as an even better player. That would help all parties.”
When it comes to Wanner's decision on whether to represent Germany or Austria, Schmidt also wants to keep a low profile.
“He hasn't asked me for advice yet. If he did, I would of course advise him in favour of the DFB and I would be delighted if he chose Germany.”
Wanner has racked up five goals and two assists in 15 matches in all competitions for Heidenheim this season.
